Chourchan Puja
Chourchan Puja is a traditional and culturally significant festival mainly celebrated in the Mithila region with devotion, joy, and family togetherness. This sacred ritual is dedicated to Moon worship, where devotees pray for happiness, prosperity, good health, and the well-being of family members. On this auspicious occasion, traditional dishes like kheer and puri are specially prepared at home. Devotees arrange items such as curd (dahi), fruits, cucumber (khira), and maize/corn (makka) in a bamboo soop (traditional winnowing basket). In the evening, families gather to view the moon and offer these sacred items with devotion while praying for blessings, peace, prosperity, and fulfillment of wishes. The ritual symbolizes gratitude, purity, cultural traditions, and the strengthening of family bonds. Chourchan Puja is performed with traditional customs, devotional prayers, and a spiritually positive atmosphere.
